The Oval on the Parkway…
The Benjamin Franklin Parkway is a Philadelphia cultural beacon. Starting at the end of July and lasting throughout the summer, the Parkway will be lined with food trucks, a beer Garden and many more attractions. All such fanfare put on display to welcome you to Philadelphia’s newest urban attraction, The Oval.
The Oval is only a hop, skip and a jump away from the Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Barnes Foundation, The Franklin Institute and The Academy of Natural Sciences. It’s deliberately official, Philadelphia’s newest urban attraction is more than accessible….It’s a must see.
The Oval occupies an overtly public space at Eakins Oval at 24th Street. This new summer “must see” lends a “Malibu” like atmosphere to the Parkway, with sand, volleyball and oversized beach balls and Twister Board. The Oval transforms a lonely strip of city pavement into a fun family day trip destination.
Open July 17 through August 18, Tuesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., The Oval is scheduled to host free daily educational programming, tons of free live entertainment, a daily lineup of food trucks and a weekly beer garden.
